Of course, this isn’t on everybody’s tick list, but it was one of my favourites. It’s a mobile bouldering wall, for one of my most endearing clients.
During the quiet months of 2020, when everything was different for the whole world. We had one glorious spring, when nobody was supposed to leave their local town or village. All the outdoor sports enthusiasts had to stay inside, and just ignore their desire to do their most favourite pass-times.
Well, not for everyone. I created this bouldering wall as a training aid. It can be dismantled, stored or moved quite quickly. It is 2.80 metres tall, and will take a weight of 250kg without deflecting. Each panel apart from the uprights, has been re-purposed from old pine, and this gives it a glorious red hue, which makes it simply divine to admire.
It has been one of my most enjoyable projects because it was to be climbed on. It was built for a purpose, and it was built to remove frustration. I can’t say that I miss those days, but I can say that I miss this little piece of history in my lifetime.
